Features: Speed control provides easy adjustment of speed. Located on the front of the motor body, the one-touch power button is activated by pressing and holding during blending. The motor body is designed for a comfortable, non-slip grip. The DC Motor provides powerful blending action and is designed for quiet, long-life operation. The Twist Lock Stainless Steel Blending Arm simply seats onto the motor body and is rotated to lock together. The sharp stainless steel blade is covered to help prevent splashing while blending. The 5-ft. power cord is long enough to take the Hand Blender to the cooktop or work area and rounded with no grooves for easy clean up. A silicone strap for power cord is included with this model. The 3-Cup BPA Free Blending Jar is is handy for individual blending jobs and features a non-slip base. Lid seals the top of the jar to store blended ingredients. The Whisk Attachment and Adapter is optimized for whipping egg whites and whipping cream. The Whisk attachment utilizes the same twist-on and lock mounting system as the other attachments. The Chopper Attachment is perfect for small chopping jobs like herbs, nuts and vegetables. Chopper includes a bowl, blade, and chopper adapter. The chopper has a non-slip base on the bottom of the bowl to prevent movement of the entire attachment during chopping process. Not an Improvement

I was unfortunate enough to get this as a warranty replacement for my old KitchenAid immersion blender and this new model is worse than the old model in almost every way I can see.The old model had nine continuously variable speeds. This one has three speeds and the highest does not seem as powerful as "9" on the old model.This model comes with a 3-cup mixing cup. The old one held 4 cups. The cup's top also does not fit as snugly.On the older model, you pressed a couple of buttons to release the attachments. On this one, the blender attachment twists on and the motor does not actually attach to the chopping cup at all. Instead, it just sits on top, which means you have to be careful you don't accidentally take it out while chopping. The old model also had a separate rubber base for the chopper. The new one has just a rubber o-ring on the bottom.I'm sure all this was done as a way to get the price down, but we don't buy KitchenAid based on price, do we? We buy based on quality. They seem to have forgotten that with this immersion blender.Sadly, the KitchenAid website no longer lists the old model. If you can, buy one of the older models while they are still on Amazon. I'm going to give this one away and do that myself.

Just Not the Same

I like the previous reviewer, I was unfortunate enough to get this as a warranty replacement. I had the Handheld Immersion Blender KitchenAid KHB100ER1. That was a work horse and I absolutely loved it!! I got this in the mail the other day as a replacement and decided to test it before sending off my other unit. I put it in the beans to make refried beans and the thing barely moved. Not only that, but the thing popped out of the blender attachment. It barely cut through the beans at the highest speed. I was so disappointed. I had such high hopes. I contacted kitchen aid immediately. I requested that my old hand held be fixed and sent back to me. Unfortunately you can only do that at your expense. They say this is an upgrade from the old hand immersion which had a motor based upon wattage. Which means you get so many revolutions per minute based upon the speed you selected. This unit is not based upon wattage but a D.C. motor, which isn't based upon revolutions per minute based upon the speed you select, but on what you are blending. So, if you are blending a salad dressing at the highest speed it will whip right through it but if you are blending a thick soup it will slow down the motor so it takes you longer to blend it. It will do it but it sounds like its going to stop any minute. I am not sure about other people but I'd rather not have the motor decide for me if it needs to slow the revolutions per minute down for me. I spend alot of time in the kitchen as it is, I want to cut my time in the kitchen so I can enjoy doing other activities. Disappointed? Yes, absolutely. It was wonderful for Kitchen Aid to send me this upgraded but somehow cut back model as a replacement for a superior model it discontinued. If you have never owned a Kitchen Aid hand immersion blender before you might not notice. I would recommend the other model KHB100 while they are still available.Oh yes and the quality is not as good. It seems to be more plasticy and lightweight in comparison. It has a twist and lock method of connecting the attachments instead of a click and safety release button. The 3 Speed selector is more cheaply made. Even the blade looked smaller. Had I bought this for myself, I would have taken it right back to the store and got my money back.Kitchen Aid offered the 5 Speed of the same Unit, at a cost of $50 Plus tax and shipping. For that money, I'll go buy the original unit I had ;-).

Not As Good As Other KitchenAid Products

The basic design of this product is OK but is has one major flaw. The button to turn it on and off is way to hard to press and is fatiguing when using it. It has 3 speeds, lots of attachments and comes with a cool storage bag. If only the button was easier to push!

Whatta Blender!

I've gone through maybe 5 hand blenders. They have lasted me 2 years at the most. I burn the motors up with heavy blending, mostly crushing ice cubes to make smoothies. The last one, a 350 watt Oster didn't even make it through a year.I've had this one for about a month, and it shows every sign of going the distance. I haven't been gentle with mine.Its two best features are the 550 watt motor which hardly even gets warm during the heaviest lengthiest chores, and the highly convenient speed control. The changable four bladed cutter is also very nice. Even the mini food processor which I initially took to be a throw-away, has turned out to be well-designed and useful.I recommend that when you first try it out, that you run it on the speed control at a setting of 2. In the highest setting of 5 or Turbo mode, it will tug on your hand so strongly while blending that it may be hard to resist. It is not excessively noisy. Timid people may even find it a little scary at its highest setting due to its ability to tug on its handle during heavy blending.Due to its ability to blend thick mixtures at maximum speed, you may find that it blends familiar items so that they are smoother than you have ever experienced. It can definately make quick work of just about any blending task.Like most other small home appliances this one is made in China. It's a little odd to me that it is marketed by a company that seems to be headquartered in Venezuela. It appears from some other comments that they stand behind their products and do have a viable US presence. 15 months is a pretty warranty for a product like this. The portion of the instructions that are in English are a lot skinnier than the ones in Spanish, but what does it take to run a blender and food processor?Just an update to say that its getting to be a year later, and my blender is still working great. I just did a small job with the food processor acessory and it worked like a charm. It is still crushing big ice cubes and blending thick smoothies without complaints or smells.

Updated. great machine but has a huge defect. read the last part

I read the reviews before i ordered the wand, not sure if this was a good deal or not. I am glad I took the chance. Most of the goodies in the paperwork are not in English and i think the biggest (possibly only) problem. The clamps breaking when taking off and on the accessories seems the biggest complaint. The main directions on how to take it off and on are not in English nor explained, you see a few arrows with words. I have the steel wand the rest of the parts are heavy duty plastic.I read the problems and took the time to try to understand what could be going wrong with breaking and anything that could result in the problems I read in the reviews posted here. The clamps are plastic but i can't see how metal would make them last longer. The most important part is you must align the arrows and just push down to attach. The top arrow that points down must be in the middle of the bottom arrows pointing towards each other. It easily pushed down and clamps together when you align the arrows. Taking it apart is just a matter of twisting them apart like you would open a jar and i think with doing both of those correctly as I listed, the clamps will never snap off.It's a very high end product for 1/2 the price or less of comparable wands. The "food processor" attachment is twice the size of the other brands and that makes it nice. Only time that would be a problem would be if you used it specifically for smaller amounts (i.e. grinding coffee beans for 1 cup of coffee) but you could easily get the smaller chopper from Cuisinart if you absolutely need that 2-3 tablespoons of food grounded or chopped.Switching out the blades isn't hard either. The only thing i see that would make a person think they are not easily done is you are working with very sharp blades. That isn't a problem, you just understand how it slides off and on then you can do it easily without any fear of cutting yourself. The lever is awkward to use but there doesn't seem to be an easier way I can think of and it does work and take seconds to do.This is the best one i have seen by far for the price. I just hope it lasts as long as i think it will. I think all the negative things i read were just people doing things wrong because of the lack of specific instructions but anyone with decent intelligence can figure out how to work the wand assuming this is not the very first time operating one. If it is then, if you have any simple ability to think problems through it should be simple enough to work out. You might even be able to find their web site and use a translator to understand what you can't read (i didn't look but that is possible alternate way to understand the wand)

Works very well

Great so far! I make Hot Pepper sauce every year and needed something with enough power to be able to grind up the pepper skins and make the sauce very smooth. Even my Cuisinart food processor has trouble with this task, plus it would leak hot sauce everywhere. Just got this and tried it on 2 different tasks. 1) I made a blended ice drink that was so thick it wouldn't pour! 2) I used it to grind some of my leftover pepper skins and vinegar. It worked very well but didn't grind up the seeds. Probably asking for too much there. Seems like it really has 550 watts.I was nervous about buying a brand with no reviews, however I checked out their website and they have a 15 month warranty and their other products got good reviews. All the labels on it are in spanish with a small user guide in english. I compared it to the $100 Kitchenaid and I like this one better, especially at only $40. All the components seem well made and are stainless steel.

I had been looking at immersion blenders for a while, checking prices, reading reviews. I had also had been looking at food processors, because mine hit the wall (figuratively. Literally, it hit the floor) and I rely on it heavily. I decided to get this little beauty because I am easily coerced into buying things based on brand recognition. I had no idea that I was going to kill two birds with one blender (not really "birds." More like one soup, one salsa). It works great. The carrying case makes me feel important when I take it out, and I have the urge to say something like, "step back. I'll handle this."We have a smoothie blender for smoothies, so I haven't tried it for that, but I've done soups, salad dressings, sauces, chutneys and salsas and it works like a dream. Clean up is easy, it feels sturdy, and it gets the job done.The cord is slightly annoying, it completely gets in the way of me pretending it's a magic wand, but it isn't, it's a kitchen tool, so I'll just suffer that one out in relative silence.

Immersion Blender on Steroids!

I recently received this as a gift and it is amazing! I haven't used an immersion blender much in my cooking life but given that this one has so many uses and utensils, I will be able to use it for many purposes. I have already used the chopper and immersion blender attachments for various tasks. They worked perfectly. I also love that it has a tool box to hold all of the components. I don't have to worry about parts getting lost or forgotten in the cupboard. I highly recommend this small appliance.

Love this Tool!!!

I am a fairly new amatur Chef and I bought this hand blender for myself for a late Christmas Present. It just arrived last night and I love it! I used it to make dinner last night. I used the chopper last night to chop up Onions and Garlic and it worked out great fastest most efficient job of chopping that I have done. Also used the mixer to whip up an egg wash and great results. Used it to whip up my scrambled eggs this morning, my eggs have never been so light and fluffy.This mixer is totally worth every penny, I look forward to using it for more and more meals in the future. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

Pleasantly surprised

I ordered the Breville BXB51XL Immersion Blender primarily for making breakfast smoothies after tiring of the time and work taking apart and cleaning my stand blender after every use. The blender is fast and powerful. Once you learn the technique of raising and lowering the blender in the mixing cup, it makes quick work of turning ice, fruit, and yogurt into a smoothie. I was also amazed at how neatly the blender works without splatter or splashing due to the design of the blending blades and shroud.The plastic mixing container is nicely designed with a handle for securing the container while blending, and the top when inverted and placed underneath acts as a skid proof cushion to keep the container from sliding around on the countertop while blending. The container and top can also be used to store soups or other liquids in the refrigerator.For me the blender works better at making liquid based creations (smoothies, milk shakes, soups), however, it does a decent job of chopping vegetables, onions, etc using the chopper attachment. The whisk attachment works great for beating eggs and making whipped cream.Clean up is a breeze, and Breville made this with safety in mind since the blades are protected by a shroud. The only potential negative is someone with very small hands may find the grip too large, however, I find the cushioned grip and trigger switch to be ergonomically pleasing.A note of caution - Amazon pops up a recommendation for a chrome milkshake mixing cup when you purchase the Breville blender. The base of the cup is too small for the blender, and can only be used with the whisk attachment, not the blender blade attachment. I would pass on the milkshake cup.A leading consumer magazine rates this blender higher than others costing 2X more. I followed that advice as well as the Amazon customer reviews and found a great kitchen tool at a great value.

Excellent!

I had a Kitchenaid immersion blender and it was great until it broke. I ended up buying the Breville and I'm glad I did. It works great! He has a lot of neat attachments that go along with it and it's well worth the price. I also have a juicer from Breville and it's the best juicer I've ever owned! I also love my kitchen aid products but I wanted to try something different and I'm very pleased with the Breville products.

Great product......if you have large hands

I purchased this for my wife, she uses an immersion blender almost everyday. She had the Cuisinart one, but it broke recently. It was great and did the job, but i wanted something a bit better and higher end. I really liked the variable speed and the Breville name. The only issue is that she has very small hands, and she finds it difficult to release the mixer from the unit. You have to press REALLY hard and she struggles. We hope that, with continued use, it will be easier. But it is a great product overall. I would reccommend to others.
