Powerful and performs well
By SuzieB
I"ve gone through enough immersion blenders over the years to know the quality can vary widely between them. My first stick was dinky and could barely blend a glass of chocolate milk. My last hand blender was a Kitchenaid (no attachments) which was fabulous until I decided to use it for making homemade soap and could not let it touch food again. I thought I had my priorities in the right order at the time. In between the two, I had several more including a Braun hand blender complete with chopper bowl attachment. The Juiceman Hand Blender appears to be very well made. The base is heavy, and the stainless steel trim looks sharp and is easy to clean. The black handle has a rubber type finish that keeps it from slipping from your hand. There's nothing dinky about it. The blade is more advanced than the blade on other hand blenders, as it includes two extra little lips that hang down, adding additional blending power. It reminds me of the blade inside a traditional blender. The product offers features that my previous hand blenders did not have. Juiceman took the variable speed feature a step further by offering a power boost button. You probably wouldn't think you'd need it, but once you use it the first time you'll find that it's helpful to have. The whisk attachment looks nice - my Braun didn't have that. While my Braun did have a chopper bowl, it was very small.Yesterday I put my new Juiceman Hand Blender to the test. I started the day with a smoothie, which wasn't much of a challenge. The Juiceman whirred peacefully as the mixture quickly became liquified. Even the spinach leaves, which were compacted on the bottom of the cup, quickly disappeared. It performed as well or possibly better than my Kitchenaid hand blender.I next followed a recipe for Eating Well's Mediterranean Millet Burgers, which creates a very thick mixture of bread crumbs, millet, spinach, etc. I used the chopper attachment to chop my onions. The large 3 cup container was an improvement over the Braun's mini chopper. The onions were chopped almost instantly and for the most part, were small and fairly uniform pieces. There were a couple of large pieces but those were easy to contend with. It did a much better job than the Braun chopper. I combined all of my ingredients and used the hand blender to pulverize a portion of it as part of the final prep prior to cooking. The Juiceman handled this brilliantly.Last night I used the Juiceman to make hummus. I was able to put all of the ingredients, including one can of garbanzo beans, into the chopper attachment and the mixture had plenty of room to move around. It blended quickly and smoothly. I did have to take the lid off and scrape the mixture down a few times, but that was expected. Overall, it performed much better than I expected.I'm really very happy with the Juiceman Hand Blender. It's very powerful and worked well in the recipes I would normally use it for. I didn't test the whisk, as I never really use one. I wasn't sure I would use the chopper, based on previous experience with the smaller Brawn chopper bowl, but I'm happy with how well it worked and would much rather use it for small batches than pull out my big Kitchenaid food processor.I would definitely recommend this product. The price is very good, considering what all you get. Juiceman also stands behined it with a 2 year warranty, which is hard to find these days.

Solid, powerful, but with dedicated tools
By atmj
Having owned a battery powered hand blender, for over 20 years, I have enjoyed it's convenience, but rued its lack of power both for heavier tasks and duration. Ideally this blender should be able to address that, though with the inconvenience of a cord. I'm happy to say that it has.POWERFUL AND ADJUSTABLE:Wow, does this thing have power. Not only does it have an On button, but it has a Boost button which has considerable more power. Though I have not run into anything that requires this Boost as yet, I'm glad to know it's there. This tool also allows you to adjust the speed overall. That is something that having used my battery powered mixer, I have missed, as it was either a slow mix, or a splashy one. This one won't have that issue. However this adjustment is on the top of handle and not in the most convenient spot if you want to make an adjustment on the fly. You would need to use your other hand to do so.WHISK ATTACHMENT AN ODD SIZE, CAN'T USE OTHER TOOLSI've use the whisk attachment which worked wonderfully. My only complaint is that while the whisk detaches, like it would on a regular mixer, the stem that goes into this tool, is a different size diameter than any other blender tool I have, so though it is convenient, it is dedicated to just this one tool. That is not good, if you are mixing a bunch of things and want to change attachments rather than wash them in between. Not sure if they sell other tools to add onto this. I've looked here to no avail.CHOPPER BOWL BIG BUT GREAT WITH HERBS, BETTER TO HAND WASHI've used the chopper bowl and that in my estimation is a miracle tool, as it does a wonderful job on fresh cilantro. If you have chopped this herb, you know it resists fine cutting in most other bowls. This one did it perfectly. Like another reviewer though I have found, the bowl is not easy to clean in the dishwasher. No positioning avoided a water pool. Also this bowl is also a lot bigger than I expected it to be. The outer diameter of the bowl is nearly 6 inches, not considering the handle and it's height nearly 8 inches. At first this was a concern as it would be too big for small jobs, but it has been fine so far.HAVEN'T USE THE BLENDER YET, WILL UPDATE WHEN I DOAs I have not as yet use the blending attachment, I can't speak to that. This would be quite convenient to with the provided beaker. I will update this review when I do.HAND, WHISK TOOL AND BLENDER NICE METAL BUT HEAVYThis is a nice product and solidly made. The exterior of the handle part where the motor is, the whisk and blending tools is sleek metal. The chopper bowl and beaker are plastic. However because of the use of metal, this handle might be heavy for extended use and the cord as anyone who has used a corded mixer knows, can tip things over if you are not careful.PROS AND CONSPROS* Adjustable power* Power Boost* Chopping tool great on herbs* Durable metalCONS:* Corded* Heavy* Power Adjustment in an inconvenient spot* Chopping tool does not clean well in dishwasher* Odd size whisk tool, can't use other tools in it's place

Outstanding quality at a reasonable price!

This is a marvelous piece of kitchen equipment that I now wonder how I did without. Let me take it piece by piece:- The motor for this is very well built and quite heavy. It is interchangeable with each of the pieces that come with the set. Something that you may not notice, but which was a pleasant surprise, was the speed control for the motor on the end of the handle. The speeds are set just right for everyday needs - from chopping to puree. The interlock is metal, and while a little tricky to get into the right spot, once it is there it is there to stay. There is a nice interlock mechanism for all the attachments, so you don't have to worry about disengaging mid job.- The whisk is the highest quality I have ever seen on a device like this. All metal and yet not rigid like many mechanized whisks. It has the perfect touch for mixing and, as mentioned, locks tightly to the motor, so there are no worries on disengaging.- the food processor attachment was the most pleasant surprise of all. Most of these type of add on devices are horribly underpowered. Not this! The interface with the motor is great and it can handle the toughest chopping jobs I have thrown at it. It won't be a replacement for your regular food processor, due to the size, but it is great for the little jobs that make up 90% of kitchen prep.- The wand has been fantastic and is all metal. It does a beautiful job, and the variable speed control on the motor makes this much more useful that the single speed units I have used in the past. This appliance has been a joy to own and, in a world dominated by junk, is a refreshing example of a high quality reasonably priced product.
