Much better than the other more popular hand blender

I bought a cuisine art hand blender instead of this one at the store because the cuisine art blender has a bigger blade. Turns out that is not very helpful, it leaves out small pieces of fruit. The cuisine art blender has the blades much higher from the base of the vessel so chunks that fit between the blade and the base don't get blended or you have to blend for few more minutes to make it a fine paste. I like to blend in the bowl I will serve in, that way I won't have more dishes. If I put milk or water with the fruit to make sure I don't have chunks, it gets a little messy.With the sharper image blender I didn't have any issues with the blend being chunky, it does a great job fast. It is not easy to blend something like apples or carrots but the cuisine art didn't do any better with those either. At least sharper image blender struggles first but after a minute it will blend it into a fine paste, with cuisine art it takes a lot longer to get to that consistency. If you want your puree fine and fast this is the right one for you.It also comes with lot of extra attachments. Usually Amazon has everything priced competitively but this one Amazon has it priced at 39.99. The store I bought it in has it for 29.99 and with the 20% off coupon I got it for $24. I love it and I am glad I decided to try it.

DO NOT BUY. If it breaks you are probably stuck with it.

After seeing how many positive stars this got, I ordered it. After just six or so uses, it broke. The plastic tab that keep it together broke at the joint for no reason. Since it had been two months, I contacted the Sharper Image about getting it fixed or replaced. I received a form email back from them. It said:Please contact the store where you made your purchase. We are only able to service orders placed on our website [...]. Sharper Image Online is not the "headquarters" and is not responsible for items sold at retail stores.That's right. The Sharper Image is not responsible for fixing or replacing their own products. Why? Because Sharper Image is not a company any more. It is just a name that many different manufacturers buy to sell their crappy Chinese-made goods under! If you want to get something fixed you must first find out who manufactured it (where can you find this out? Nowhere apparently.) Then send it back to China. That's if you can arrange it. Basically, you buy it and you are stuck with it. And it's complete garbage to boot.Amazon was incredible as usual and refunded my money. They told me just to toss the blender in the garbage and they did not want it back. If I were you though, I would not count on Amazon to do this, as they don't have to after 30 days.In short, buy the Cuisinart. This is crap and The Sharper Image is a scam.

My dad was so impressed with the ease of blending smoothies, soups, and just about anything with my Cuisinart SmartStick hand blender, that when I was moving out of the house, he started to panic. The thought of living life without the convenience of a hand blender scared him so, until I found this Sharper Image gem looking me in the eye one day. I opened the box and the first thing that I noticed was that the machine itself was a bit heavier than my Cuisinart (minus points) but the Sharper Image blender does have two settings instead of one (plus points.) I tested it out; the quality of the chopping and blending was really quite comparable. The chopping container on my Cuisinart has tiny non-skid pads on the bottom, this one doesn't (I know, big deal, but a difference nonetheless) though the container on this one seems a bit bigger. The Whisk attachment on this model seems a bit cheaper; not as solidly constructed, but it still works. Lastly, the Cuisinart is attached via snapping the pieces into place then relying on a release button whereas this Sharper Image model has a "twist and click" locking mechanism, which at first I didn't like, but quickly grew accustomed to. All in all, this hand mixer is a great value and a powerful kitchen tool.
