Bummed that we were wooed by the price.

We own brand new start up creamery and are watching every dollar we spend. For this reason, we purchased the Hamilton Beach Immersion Blender. The motor struggled severely in 1.5 gallons of liquid ice cream - the very first time it was used. It was not thick - there were no big pieces of anything in it - just trying to distribute vanilla evenly. This should have been a an easy task for this piece of equipment. We've used it 3 times over the past 2 weeks and the motor struggles and it has very weak capabilities. I am sorry to say it's not worth buying as this means we wasted money we could have spent on a better blender that we'll now have to go purchase.Regarding Amazon - as always, the shipping was on time - everything packaged nicely - love Prime!

I've been making a flax seed based smoothie for breakfast for the past 7 years, yes I'm a a creature of habit unlike any other, but because of this I've gone through many hand blenders and figured I'd invest in what seemed a long lasting and solid professional model. Flax seeds exposed to water thicken quickly and need some horse power to be broke down, which I was under the impression this blender would do a very good job of, but I was beyond disappointed.This thing has less power than the cheapest of hand blenders. It pales compared to a $20 Braun, or $36 Cuisinart and is utterly pathetic compared to the $40 KitchenAid model I've been using for the past couple years. Not only is it useless as a blender, but it's horribly designed: it's very heavy, difficult to keep the ON button depressed while attempting to blend and finally it's impossible to unscrew the stick from the motor once you're done. THIS WAS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY I'VE SPENT ON ANY KITCHEN ITEM EVER PURCHASED. I mean it.STAY AWAY from this blender!!!!!!!!!As an aside, the most powerful consumer grade blender I've owned is this Kitchen Aid: [...]I do have one caveat about this model too, though it's the most functional hand blender I've experienced (out of about 7 models) for some extremely odd reason there is a small plastic piece inside of the blender that holds the blade in place. This is problematic in two ways: even this small piece of plastic will leech toxins into hot or acidic foods over several minutes of blending, and worse food jams underneath the lip of this plastic and is impossible to clean. The blender finally broke because I had popped the plastic off so that I could clean underneath and then would pop it in place before the next use (which worked quite well), until I left it un-afixed for a month while away and when I returned the plastic had warped so that it would not go back into place. Otherwise this is hands down the best hand blender for the money.And don't bother with the new Kitchen Aid model with all the attachments at $99. Just bought that one for my mom and again, it's less powerful and all the attachments are superfluous and only take up space.I'm currently waiting for a Juiceman stainless steel hand blender, which I hope will be both powerful and free of plastic bits or poor design. I'll post a report this week. If you're curious and willing to wait a few days, check back in my reviews.

I'm very happy with mine

I've owned this immersion blender for over three years and it has never let me down. It has a LOT of power for its weight and the stick locks onto the motor and stays on until you're ready for it to come off. I use mine to puree vegetables and make cream soups and I love it. Cleanup is also a snap.
